]]>The demands of modern life can be overwhelming and stressful. Whether you're juggling multiple projects at work, running errands during your free time, or even just trying to enjoy time with the people you love—there are a lot of things competing for your attention. While it's important to have goals and aspirations, it's also critical that you take care of yourself in the process. We've listed a few of our tips below to help you relieve stress while still getting everything done!
"Plan my day? I don't even had time for everything else going on in my day!" I hear you but it only takes 5 minutes a day and once you start you seen how organising you day can help you find way more than 5 minutes. Planning your day can not only help you get things done, it can also help you avoid stress. Planning your day in advance or in the moment can help you decide what to do next, which will allow for more productivity and less stress later when deadlines approach.
You may have heard this before but I'm going to say it again: planning your day is an essential component of preventing burnout. It's like going through the motions of preparing a healthy meal before actually cooking it; if there's no plan in place, then chances are good that we'll end up eating whatever comes first (or second) out of our fridge—and that could mean anything from frozen pizzas to peanut butter on toast, it's tasty but it's likely not getting you to your goal.
With a little bit of forward thinking and organisation we promise it will help you find more time in your day and help reduce stress. There are lots of planners out there that can help you as well, a personal favourite is the BestSelf Planner but you can also just start with a blank notebook.
Taking 10 minutes to meditate is a great way to reduce stress and relieve your mind from the hectic nature of everyday life. There are many studies that show meditation can improve your mental health, physical health and sleep quality.
The benefits of meditation include:
Improved focus
Better concentration and memory function
Reduced anxiety levels in stressful situations
If you're looking for a way to relieve stress, look no further than physical activity. It's one of the most effective, healthy ways to release tension and improve your mood.
Physical activities that are good for relieving stress include yoga, running, swimming and weightlifting. Researchers from Harvard Medical School found that regular exercise can help reduce anxiety levels by up to 40 percent in just eight weeks!
You don't need to hit the gym every day (although it's fine if you want to), but aim for at least three 30-minute workouts each week if you want to see results. The key is not how much time you spend working out but how hard your body has been pushed during those 30 minutes or so; if it feels like a breeze then maybe try adding another five minutes up the intensity next time around!
Because we live such busy lives these days it can be easy to forget about our own well-being; however taking some time out of our schedules to do something good for ourselves will undoubtedly improve our mental health as well as making us feel better physically too.
Drinking water is one of the best ways to relieve stress, especially when your schedule is busy and you're not getting enough rest. Research shows that drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day can help manage anxiety, but it also has other benefits as well.
You probably already know that drinking more water helps keep your skin looking healthy and glowing. It also aids in digestion, which means less bloating after meals! And did you know that being dehydrated can actually cause weight gain? A lack of fluid means your body will be packing on fat cells instead of flushing out toxins like it should be doing—not only does it make you feel bloated (and look bloated), but having excess blubber around the midsection makes it harder for people to see those abs or glutes they've been working so hard on building up! Drinking more H2O might not be able to turn back time, but who knows what else it'll do!
Drinking plenty of liquid throughout the day is essential for overall health and well-being: besides helping reduce stress levels through hydration alone, drinking more water has also been linked with improved energy levels as well as better concentration during tasks such as reading or studying. It's also super important for keeping our brains sharp; according to scientific research conducted by The Journal Of Neuroscience Nursing (JON), consuming adequate amounts of H2O helps us perform better on cognitive tests such as word games like Scrabble® because water acts as both an aid for mental clarity without causing drowsiness.
If your someone that find water boring then you can try using a B On 1 Glass Water Bottle and adding some fruit or herbs to it, like mint for example.
Getting enough sleep is one of the best ways to decrease anxiety and stress. If you're not getting enough sleep, your brain will be extra sensitive to stressors, so even a minor problem could cause a huge flare-up of anxiety. Additionally, when you're tired your body's response time slows down and this can lead to accidents or injuries (like car crashes), which can make your life feel even more overwhelming than it already is!
Now you might be thinking, "That sounds great but it's the stress that's keeping me awake." We get it and sometimes that get definitely make it difficult so here are a few things you can try to get you drift off quicker:
Develop good sleep habits—try going to bed and getting up at the same time each day
Avoid caffeine before bedtime
Don't eat too much before bedtime.
Dim the lights.
Avoid any screens a hour before bed.
Try adding CBD to your nighttime routine (more on this in the next tip)
One of the best ways to reduce stress is by adding CBD to your daily routine, which has been proven to help you relax and sleep.
CBD is a natural anti-inflammatory and it can help you manage pain in your body as well as reduce anxiety.
Studies show that CBD can help reduce cortisol levels in your body. Cortisol is a hormone that usually increases when someone experiences stress, but when it stays too high for too long it can lead to depression or anxiety disorders.
If you're going through stressful times at work or home, consider adding CBD Patches into your life!
The key to managing stress is taking care of yourself. If you don't have time for a full meditation session, then at least try some quick exercises like deep breathing or stretching. If you're too busy to get more sleep, then maybe try going to bed earlier and getting up earlier so that you can fit in a few hours of rest before starting your day. And if your schedule doesn't allow much physical activity, there's no reason why you can't take the stairs instead of waiting for an elevator or running errands on foot whenever possible!
Drinking plenty of water each day will help keep your body hydrated and feeling refreshed during periods when life feels especially hectic. Remember: It's okay if these tips aren't completely feasible right now - though they will be once we start implementing them! In fact, this might even help motivate us further towards success!
I hope some of these tips can help you relieve some stress even if just a little bit. If you have tips for things that help you please share them with everyone in the comments below and hopefully we can help each other!
]]>If you're looking for a healthier, tastier and more environmentally friendly way to drink, then look no further than glass water bottles. Here are few reasons why...
Glass is non-porous, so it doesn't absorb anything from the liquids you put in it. Which means you get a great taste every time. It's also non-toxic, meaning that it won't leach harmful chemicals into your water unlike plastic bottles. And because glass is a nonreactive material (meaning it doesn't react with other materials), there are no risks of corrosion or staining over time. That makes glass an ideal choice for any reusable bottle: You can use them for anything from juices, protein shakes, smoothies, coffee, whatever you like and you'll always get a great taste.
You can also put B On 1 glass water bottles in the freezer, which will make it an even more effective way to cool down your water quickly. The reason for this is that the B On 1 Bottle is made from borosilicate glass which is thermal resistant and won't crack when frozen—the same reason it can withstand high temperatures without breaking, making great for making tea as well.
When you're drinking out of a glass water bottle, you can rely on its durability and ease of cleaning. Borosilicate glass (which the B On 1 Bottle is made out of) is dishwasher safe and won't harbour bacteria like plastic bottles do. Because they are not porous, they don't retain any flavours or odours after washing in the dishwasher (or by hand). The wide opening on the B On 1 Glass Bottle also makes it very easy to wash by hand.
Finally, since the glass is clear it's easy to check whether the bottle is clean or not.
First, let's talk about the benefits of glass. Glass bottles are made from natural materials, so they don't contain any harmful chemicals that could leach into your water. Glass is also easier to clean than stainless steel, which means less risk of mould growth or bacterial contamination. And finally, glass bottles are more eco-friendly than other options because they can be recycled over and over again (not just once).
Now let's talk about what makes stainless steel bottles great! They're durable and lightweight, which means they're easy to carry around wherever you go. They also come in a variety of colours so you can personalise your look!
But as great as stainless steel bottles are—they're not perfect. First off: stainless steel has a tendency to absorb flavours from food and beverages, making it taste metallic or like plastic after only a few uses. Second, the metal can develop scratches which can harbour bacteria and cause them to grow inside those scratches (making them even harder to clean). This is why overall we believe that glass is a better option for you.
Glass is a more sustainable choice because it's easily recyclable and made from renewable resources like sand. Unlike plastic bottles, glass doesn't contain any chemicals or additives that can leach into your drinking water (or other liquids). Glass also won't become brittle with age, which means you'll be able to use your bottle for years to come.
The best reason to get a glass water bottle is that it will help you drink more water, which can benefit your body in many ways! The most obvious one being hydration of course, but there are other benefits as well like keeping those nasty chemicals away. Glass also gives the best taste consistently. You'll also save money by reusing your water bottle and not buying bottled drinks from the shop. Another positive effect is reducing waste--every year millions of plastic bottles end up in landfills around the world. I hope this gave you a better understanding of the benefits of a glass water bottle.
]]>The benefits of CBD have been in the news a lot lately—and with good reason! It can help you relax before bed, ease pain, and even help lower blood pressure. There are many ways to take CBD, but two of the most popular methods are CBD patches and CBD oil. Both are easy to use and can deliver great results. But which one is right for you? It all comes down to your lifestyle and preferences.
]]>The benefits of CBD have been in the news a lot lately—and with good reason! It can help you relax before bed, ease pain, and even help lower blood pressure. There are many ways to take CBD, but two of the most popular methods are oil and patches. Both are easy to use and can deliver great results. But which one is right for you? It all comes down to your lifestyle and preferences.
If you’re not familiar with CBD, it stands for cannabidiol and is a compound found in the cannabis plant. It doesn’t contain THC, which is and is extracted from hemp plants the chemical in marijuana that can make people high. This means that CBD oil won't get you high and there are no psychoactive effects when using it.
CBD can be used to treat a variety of health conditions, including pain, anxiety, depression and other mental health issues. CBD interacts with receptors throughout your body to restore balance to your endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is responsible for regulating many important functions such as sleep, mood and memory formation—and CBD helps support the healthy function of this system by restoring homeostasis within it.
CBD oil is a concentrated form of cannabidiol (CBD). CBD is one of the chemical compounds found in cannabis plants and its properties are often used to alleviate pain, inflammation, anxiety and other health issues.
CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant, which can then be turned into a range of products including tinctures, sprays and capsules. CBD oil can also be added to foods or drinks if you don't want to swallow it as a pill.
It's important to note that while CBD oil may contain traces of THC (the psychoactive component in marijuana), it doesn't produce any kind of high. This means that if you're looking for any kind of mind-altering experience beyond relaxation—like being able to go out at night after taking your dose—you'll need something else entirely!
CBD oil is an all-natural, non-psychoactive substance derived from the hemp plant. It has been used for thousands of years to treat a variety of conditions, including pain and inflammation. It's easy to add to thinks like food and drinks.
However, a couple of downsides are: you might not like the taste and you harder to regulate dosage like you can with a CBD patch. You also need to carry around a little bottle of oil and keep taking it as needed.
CBD patches are a form of transdermal CBD that is applied topically to the skin. They can be used for many different purposes, including pain relief, inflammation, stress and to improve sleep.
The advantage of using a CBD patch is that you will only need to apply it once a day in order to get your daily dose of CBD. You don’t have to worry about whether you have enough product left in the bottle because it is already applied directly onto your skin where it will stay until you wash it off or remove the patch altogether.
If you're looking to try CBD, patches are a great place to start. They're easy to use, discreet and can be used anywhere at any time. You don't need to worry about spills or the taste of the oil, which can make them more appealing than other methods of consumption.
They're also more discreet than other forms of CBD because they don't require a dropper or syringe. This can make it easier for those who may dislike the taste and taking drops orally because they have difficulty swallowing liquids by mouth due to an illness or disability (such as Parkinson’s).
If you’re looking for a convenient way to get your daily dose of CBD, a patch is the perfect option. When applied to the skin, it absorbs quickly and enters the bloodstream through the dermis, resulting in fast-acting relief.
You can forget about pills, gummies or drinks—you simply place an adhesive patch on your body and let it do its work! A great thing about CBD patches is that they don’t have an unpleasant taste like some other forms of CBD oil do.
CBD Patches can also blend in with your daily routine better than other products because you don't need to keep taking them. It's you one and done.
This repents on the patch but typically CBD patches last anywhere from 24 to 36 hours. Unlike CBD oils, which need to be potentially be taken multiple times and can get messy, CBD patches are easy to transport. They're also discreet, making them great for those who don't want people knowing they're using CBD.
The answer to the question of how long does a CBD patch take to work? is, well, it depends. You could be feeling the effects within 30 minutes or it might take up to 6-8 hours. But generally speaking, you will start feeling its effects within an hour or two of putting on your patch.
Ultimately, CBD patches and CBD oils can both be effective ways to relieve pain, reduce stress, and deal with a variety of symptoms. Each product has its unique benefits, but there’s no reason you can’t use them interchangeably or even at the same time. You might find that one works better for you than the other; you might prefer one for certain situations (like using CBD oil at a top up when you really need it) and the other for another purpose (like sleeping with a CBD patch or wearing during sport). Or you might love both equally!
]]>Are you looking for a big challenge in 2020, or just another thing to conquer on your fitness journey? Some of you may never have heard of an ultra-marathon, let alone considered entering for one, but this blog is to tell you what they are and why you should do one!
An Ultra marathon (or Ultra) is a running race of any distance greater than a marathon. The distances can range from 30 miles to 300 miles but don’t be put off by these crazy distances, with a proper plan in place you could be running your first ultra within 6 months!
Let’s get started and we’ll try and convince you why you should run your first ultra!
Ultras are often off-road, and away from big towns and cities. In nice weather there is little better than spending time on trails in the big outdoors. Whether it’s somewhere local you’ve never explored, a national park across the country or even abroad, trail running can take you to amazing places you may have never discovered.
When racking up the miles on the road, the repetitive landing position of your foot coupled with the hard road surface has been shown to be hard on your joints, especially your knees and ankles. The softer running surface off-road will reduce the wear and tear on your body keeping you fit for longer.
You will need a lot more stability around your ankles and knees due to the uneven surfaces underfoot and the elevation changes of the route will require a good base level of strength in your legs. Ultra-running really is a whole-body workout!
Completing an ultra-marathon is a show of mental fortitude more than anything else, having the will to carry on running when you are tired, hungry and in pain is one of the hardest things you’ll have to do. Mental strength isn’t just applicable to your running though, you can apply it to all areas of your life!
Ultra-running gives you the opportunity to run at your own pace. Walking is not a sign of weakness it really is encouraged. Seriously! A good rule to follow is to walk every uphill section, it’s not only more efficient but 20 miles later you’ll be thanking your past self for being sensible.
The goal is less about burning yourself out by going deep into fatigue, more about completing the distance in your style.
Race Day is exciting and nerve wracking in equal parts. Before it starts you’re buzzing to get started but also daunted by the task ahead of you. However, once your legs get going there are several things that keep you going.
Your fellow runners become your best friends whether you run alongside them for five minutes or for five hours! Support along the route really powers you on and can make those tough times just that little bit more enjoyable.
You spend all day stuffing your face. Seriously. At every pit stop you will be stuffing your face with all sorts of fruit, nut bars and anything that you can get your hands on!
And when it’s finally done the sense of fulfilment is amazing. You’ve completed such a massive task and had a beautiful experience along the way.
It’s really on reflection that you realise the benefits of all the effort that has been put into training and the ultra itself. Many people have different experiences and reap the benefits of what they have accomplished.
For me personally I recognised the benefit of exercise to my mental health and the sense of really accomplishing a goal I had set myself. I brought these benefits into my work and social life and I can honestly say that completing my first ultra-marathon improved me as a person.
Obviously Ultra Running isn’t for anyone but for someone who is looking for a goal this year I would honestly consider running one. There are many across the country with varying difficulty and support and a few minutes research can find your first Ultra too!
]]>Thankfully your head is clear due to your B On 1 Patch you wore last night, and you found this blog, a guide on not only making good New Year’s resolutions but also making sure they stick!
First think crazy, think big, think anything and just write it down on some paper. What do you really want to do over the next year? Want to run a marathon? Write it down. Want to cut down your environmental footprint? Write it down. Want to have a better work life balance? Write it down.
The important step here is getting your ideas out of your head and onto the paper. They can be broad and vague, but the key thing is that they are your ideas, by decluttering your mind you may stumble across something you are really keen on.
Having got these big ideas, it’s important to take a step back before focusing on some specific goals. The first thing to do is to prioritise everything that you have written down. Rank every item on your list in two ways, first by how much you want to do that goal and secondly by how realistic you think each goal is. Having found a selection with a good balance between the two the next stage is to break these ideas down.
The best way of doing this is by thinking SMART.
Many of you will have heard of SMART goal setting but it’s one of the most undervalued practices when setting goals.
S – Specific
Clearly define what the goal is and make it personal to you! Many people have general goals to get fitter or get more out of your work, but clearly that’s not specific to your own situation. Take time on this!
M – Measurable
Quantify your goal and track your progress! Recognising achievement as you progress is a huge motivator, giving clear evidence as to your success! Alternatively, it may provide information you may not have noticed about where you could improve further.
A – Achievable
Make your goals within your grasp. If you plan to run a marathon then give yourself a time which you feel will stretch you but is not impossible!
R – Realistic
“I want to get three promotions at work within two months.” It’s a nice thought but isn’t necessarily a realistic target. Keep yourself grounded and the success will follow!
T – Time
Keep yourself to deadlines. We all hate them, but they are an effective way of getting things done. To use the marathon example, maybe sign up for a marathon in the summer, it gives you a clear deadline and a clear achievement when it’s done!
New Year’s Resolutions are often these bold statements of intent that may not be true to what’s possible but also not true to who you are as a person. Remind yourself of why you’ve set these aims and try to make everything fun.
At the end of the day, your life should not be controlled by these goals, don’t let them consume you. Always find time to meet with friends, a couple of pints down the pub aren’t going to knock you back, especially if you wear your B On 1 patch. These goals are important but not as important as your mental and physical health!
]]>Are you about to jet off to somewhere sunny? Then you are likely to be thinking about all the things you need to bring with you, from what you’re going to wear, to your suncream and how many euros you need to exchange...
]]>Are you about to jet off to somewhere sunny? Then you are likely to be thinking about all the things you need to bring with you, from what you’re going to wear, to your suncream and how many euros you need to exchange.
There are a couple of things however, that might have not crossed your mind when packing so we are going to enlighten you with them in this article to help you have a better holiday experience!
So perhaps you have planned your parties night by night, and maybe even what you’re going to be drinking, but have you planned how to deal with your hangovers? Whether you are a sufferer or not, drinking alcohol always leaves some sort of an after effect, whether you feel less energy, more tired, or completely paralyzed. No matter which way you suffer, there is an option which can help you eliminate it altogether, and that is through the use of a simple vitamin patch.
Simply place these patches on to your arm before a night of drinking, and the next day you'll feel great and ready for your next adventure… it really is that easy!
Often when it comes to packing, many of us are so busy planning our outfits and making sure we have enough toiletries, that we forget to add any pain relief. Whether you’re suffered sunstroke symptoms, or stood on something in the sea, a good pain killer can be a lifesaver in times of need. Not only this, they can be expensive overseas and depending on where you are going, sometimes it can be difficult to even find a simple paracetamol in the pharmacies, or lack of them.
Another must-have is antihistamines. You may not even suffer from any allergies back home, but there’s no saying that you won’t start once you’re out there. With a totally different climate, and possibly higher pollen levels, your allergies might rise to the surface and there’s nothing worse than having itchy eyes and sunburn before a night out - better to be safe than sorry.
Another ESSENTIAL is insect repellent as well as after bite remedy. The repellent stops insects from being attracted to you, while an after bite remedy will help soothe any bites that you already have. Some people don’t have to worry about being bitten from the likes of mosquitoes but there are some who do, and the last thing you want is ugly bites ruining your holiday photos! Similar to the antihistamines, finding insect sprays abroad may be both expensive and difficult depending on your location, so don’t be left without.
Finally, if you want to avoid the lobster look, invest in good quality after-sun. The best creams are known to include aloe vera and are favoured for their cooling effects. By popping them in your hotel or Airbnb’s fridge, you can improve their effectiveness, and feel so refreshed after a shower. Forgetting it may leave you with drier skin after being in the sun all day, and may even lead to wrinkles!
One final recommendation when on holiday is to drink more water! Especially in the heat, you will certainly need more to keep your energy levels high, and avoid dehydration.
We hope this article has given you some extra ideas of some holiday essentials to add to your case before you leave, and guarantee you will be better off having these items with you.

Wedding guests may bring a special gift for the newly weds, but what about the family and guests? In order to keep them happy on the big day too, it’s always nice to leave them a little something to show they are appreciated.
Wedding favours are a popular extra that many couples give to their guests on their wedding day, and they are something which guests are thankful for. Many people are known to give out the standard sugar coated almonds, or candles, but that’s simply traditional!
We think it’s much better to give something that’s useful – and with that being said, we are going to give you some wedding favour inspiration in this article, as we show you five things your wedding guests are guaranteed to thank you for.

If you want to keep the party going after your wedding, then why not give your guests the gift of bubbles? Perhaps your favourite brand of bubbly, or a personalised bottle to suit each guest? Another fun alternative could be mini wine bottles, beer as well as coffee.
Before the mini-champagne, your guests may benefit from this next wedding favour.
Your guests are most likely to be drinking at your wedding too right? Well if you want to help them out the next day, offer them something that they will definitely make use of! B On 1 Patches are the perfect gift to help with the morning recovery, and will definitely improve your guests moods the following day, and even the next party they attend if you gift them with a few patches. Get them to put one on before they start drinking and they will be sure to thank you!
A sweet treat is always a good idea as it is bound to be enjoyed! It might even be a good idea to help cure any post wedding hangover cravings! Doughnuts can be made especially for the event, otherwise if you are a dab hand at baking, why not make your own personalised doughnuts for each guest?
Perhaps you want to stand out from the traditional wedding favours, and offer a welcome bag to your guests instead? This way you can offer your guests a little variety of goodies rather than focusing on just one or two. You could even include some of the things mentioned above.

]]>Have you ever noticed how much better you feel on holiday, when in the sun? If you think back to your last time abroad, would you say you drank a lot of water throughout the day? Perhaps to keep cool?
Well, maybe the sun wasn’t the only factor that contributed to you feeling so good, as research shows that drinking more water throughout the day leads to higher levels of happiness, as you keep your body replenished, and therefore as a result feel more energised.
Many people have heard the standard, ‘drink eight glasses a day’ yet perhaps don’t really feel motivated to drink that much water in a day unless they are sweating and feel like they are struggling. However, that extra water you drink in the heat would be just as helpful in your everyday life.
We are going to freshen up your inspiration showing five reasons why drinking more water can improve your life and help you feel great!
When you aren’t drinking enough water, you are likely to feel sluggish and less motivated to do things. Dehydration is common among many people, and the most natural remedy is fortunately always available to us, and that’s merely to drink more water. It dramatically improves energy levels, helping you to feel more awake, and less lazy.
Do you suffer from headaches? Often they can be caused by not drinking enough water, as your brain shrinks when it doesn’t have the right amount of fluid, which leads to the pain.
Drinking more water helps to keep your brain healthy, and at the same time increases brain power overall! Since your brain is made up of 73% water, drinking more of it helps you concentrate clearer, focus better and stay more alert.
One of the most overlooked benefits of drinking more water is a healthy immune system. Drinking more water is known to make it stronger in two ways: It flushes harmful toxins out of your body and carries oxygen to your body’s cells, which allow your system to function well.
If you are prone to getting colds or flu, then perhaps drinking a bit more water will help flush them away altogether.
4 - Better Mood
Science has shown that when your body is lacking in water, it can also affect your mind, making you feel slightly moody. When your body is hydrated correctly; however, your systems and organs will run better, and in turn, help increase how you feel too! This is also why we feel so good in the heat as we are continually replenishing our bodies, and this results in a better, energetic mood.
5 - Improved Hangovers
Another favoured benefit of drinking more water is that it takes the edge of a hangover. Alcohol consumption leads to dehydration, so if you want to be able to survive the day after your night of drinking, then sneak some water in between your beverages, as well as before you go to sleep. Also, if you’re planning a night out don’t forget to use one of our very own B On 1 Patches!
If you would like to incorporate more water into your life this year, why not do it in the healthiest way possible? We offer unique glass drinking bottles which are completely chemical free and help preserve the environment at the same time!
Hopefully, some of these benefits have given you a little inspiration to drink more water, and you will be on your way to a healthier, more energised version of you soon!

Not going out on a date? - No problem. This means you won’t have to splash out just because society says so. That extra money saved can be put towards something you really want, like a trip somewhere new, or even a new outfit perhaps?
Let’s be honest, everyone sets their expectations so high for Valentine’s Day, and in the end may even force the romance altogether. This leads to more of an awkward event never mind a romantic one, and perhaps also slightly boring. Real romance cannot be forced, therefore if you are single, you need not worry as you will be the only one to disappoint yourself, never mind someone else. Who wants a fake date anyway?
Sometimes in relationships, people feel like they have to work to impress their other half 24/7 to keep them interested. With Instagram added to the mix, competition to be the ‘best couple ever’, has never been higher.
Again you can just sit back, chill and be completely couple stress-free! You might see some fellow singletons posting things like “Sipping my wine and watching Netflix alone because I can” “#independant” when in actual fact they seem quite insecure.
You, however, don’t need to post such things or try and impress anyone this Valentine’s day but yourself. Eaten a full box of chocolates in one night? Now that’s impressive!
If you fancy a date or three, you can do precisely that! And why not on Valentine’s Day?
Not being tied down provides a whole lot more freedom, and dating is healthy. So why not take the bull by the horns and date until your heart’s content? Maybe ask out that worker at Starbucks you think's cute? After all ‘love is in the air’ on Valentine’s Day.
Being single gives you all the time in the world to focus on you and what you really want to do in life. Relationships, (often the ones that aren’t right), can take a lot of time and energy which sometimes make life difficult. Just think there will be many partners out there this Valentine's day who might even be wishing they were back in their single shoes…
Another perk is nights out. Why not enjoy a night out with friends on Valentine’s day and celebrate your single life with others in the same boat? Being single makes partying a lot more fun. It can equally be fun in a relationship too, but when you are single, you can definitely spend more time flirting than texting bae when you will be getting your taxi home.
One thing you can say for sure this Valentine’s day is at least you still have time to really find out who is partner material and who’s not!
So yes! Don’t forget single life does have many perks. You may even enjoy it so much you'll want to remain single forever, and if that is the case, that’s absolutely fine.
]]>Halloween cocktails are gaining more and more of a hype, and we want to share some of the best ones with you, so not only will your outfit choice turn heads but your drink too! From the list, the dark and Stormy is the creepiest looking drink when done right. This is a rum and ginger beer mixed concoction, with the addition of eyeballs which are made of ice cubes with lychee syrup and stuffed brandy cherries. You definitely cannot beat drinking an eyeball cocktail on Halloween.
This Cauldron themed punch looks like it has stepped right out of Hogwarts with its smoky effect from dry ice. This is probably one of the best Halloween themed cocktails thanks to its purple colour and ghostly appearance.

But wait; are you really prepared to make it through the weekend? Do you have everything you need to survive the exhilarating festival experience? Yes, no? Whichever the case may be, you should be aware that there are quite a few festival essentials you wouldn't want to forget when heading out of the house. Whether it's Reading Festival, Isle of White or Wireless Festival, If you’ve done it before you’ll know, surviving a festival goes beyond putting up a tent and having a blast with friends.
That said, here are 5 festival essentials that you absolutely can't go without this year.
For starters, get a small cross body bag for your festival adventures this season. In fact, they are must-have especially if you're looking to take your phone, wallet, and charger along with you. The great thing is, these bags come in a variety of styles that you're sure to love, and you can rest easy knowing that your hands will be free for dancing, taking photos and holding your beer! What's more, a cross body bag makes it virtually impossible to lose your stuff since it always around your waist — it's a win-win.
Speaking of beer, there's a good chance that you or your friends will be enjoying a few and of course, you don’t want to miss your favourite act just because you don’t feel so great. That said, slap on a B On 1 Patch before your first drink and you’ll be good to go! Essentially, our B On 1 Patch contains 75 milligrams of Vitamin B1 making it an all-natural solution that works with your body to cope with alcohol consumption. For best results, we recommend you apply the patch 30 minutes before drinking and leave it on for the next 24 hours. Trust us, your body will thank you in the morning!
Here's the thing; music festivals are usually crowded and of course, there's a good chance that people are going to be stepping all over you. With that in mind, it's incredibly important to take your time to pick a footwear that's comfortable and festival-friendly. As you probably guessed, your stylish sandals, heels or favorite trainers won't cut it here. You're better off with closed-toe shoes or your trusted pair of Converse. The bottom line; just pick something that's comfortable enough for a day chock full of walking, standing, and stepping.
Now, it's not just about fashion, quality sunglasses can protect your eyes from the sun and that's huge. You could also pack sunscreen and a pretty hat. All in all, don't forget to get one (or even three) if your festival is lucky enough to be graced with the goodness of the sun. I feel a bit like this is something your mum would tell you but you know she’s right!
Finally, bring a pack of wet wipes along with you. As you probably guessed, wet wipes are great for everything from feeling clean and refreshed after using the bathroom to wiping dirty hands and muddy legs — pretty sure you get the point!
And that's it! These are our top 5 festival essentials you wouldn't want to ignore when heading out of the house. Of course, we're pretty sure you know that there are other things to pack (say refillable water bottles, snacks, ponchos and ear plugs) and you can find all of these on our Pinterest board dedicated to festivals. Here's to a super fun festival experience!
Comment below with your favourite festival essentials.
]]>April 22nd is officially Earth Day, celebrated all over the world in aid of showing support for environmental protection.
Each earth day brings a new topic to light every year, in order to share and spread awareness to people of important issues, that are affecting us all. Last year’s theme was ‘Environmental & Climate Literacy’, helping to address the drastic issues of climate change. This year’s Earth day however, is dedicated to a more pressing issue which we are noticing a lot more, and that is the plastic pollution problem, which in recent times has started to become increasingly worse. More than 8 million tonnes of plastic is dumped in our oceans every year (The Container Recycling Institute) and there are known to be around 6.3 billion tonnes of plastic waste on Earth…
It makes you start to think what you can do to help the world, and if you care about the future of the planet, then beginning with this article is a good start ;) Keeping to this Earth day’s theme, we are showing you three simple ways you can decrease your plastic consumption, so that you can begin making a difference (and feel good about it!)
You may have noticed the increase in people and their hate of buying plastics. What about you? Why not try buying your healthy goods in their natural form, rather than in plastic packaging. There is literally no need for that extra plastic anyway when you think about it, and the benefit is that fruit and vegetables are likely a lot cheaper without it.
Luckily cheap cloth bags will not break the bank, the best thing you could do is bring your own bags as much as possible when it comes to shopping, rather than choosing plastic ones and even paying for them.
Nowadays we can easily take our own bottle, yet we choose to buy one when we are out and about out of laziness. Ok sometimes it’s easy to forget, but taking your own bottle, even better a non-plastic bottle will not only save you some pennies, but also help to decrease the plastic problem altogether. Not only are plastic bottles bad for the environment, but bad for your health too… various studies have shown when drinking from plastic bottles, the plastic can actually release chemicals and dioxins into the water, which in the worst case scenario can cause cancer.
Uncomfortable thought right? If you want to start reducing your plastic consumption, then starting with simple everyday alternatives can be easy, such as our unique reusable glass water bottle which is healthy and environmentally friendly!
Taking little steps such as this one, you would save at least 480 bottles of plastic per year (UK Household average) going into the environment, which is a lot…
So there you have it, a few tiny steps that you can follow to make the world a better place. Hopefully this Earth day you can make a start at trying to make a difference, not only for yourself, but for the planet.

Compound movements (exercises that use multiple body parts all at once like a squat) and natural movements patterns should be your bread and butter when it comes to the gym. We all lift things from the floor, stand up, run and walk up hills in our day to day life (especially us Sheffield folk on that last one). Having a good solid squat, dead-lift and pressing movement is the secret to achieving your goals. Whether you’re a guy or a girl, no matter what your trying to achieve, any PT worth their soul will have these movements in their plans.
Over complications (excessive band usage), over reliance on accessory work (bicep curls in the mirror) are great and everything but in essence it is slowing down your progress. Squats will help your legs, pull ups will develop your arms, its as simple as that! To use another cheap metaphor, doing some kind of lunge variation with bands round your ankles is like trying to paint a huge painting and using the smallest brush possible. Don’t get me wrong, you are activating the muscle, you are changing things up which is great but things like this should not be your focus, think of it as detail work.
I’ll use my workout style as an example, if I’m looking to work my upper body I’ll start with 2 compound pressing movements, one horizontal and one vertical (bench press and overhead press). Already with these two movements I have activated a lot of muscles, the chest, shoulders, triceps, core, back and spine. Two exercises and a whole lot of activation on those muscles! This part is for the guys out there. If your starting with chest fly’s and lateral raises your essentially just fine tuning (unless your some variety of body builder, then ignore me, but if your all natural then maybe you should take note), Rome wasn’t built in a day but there’s no need to take an eternity about it, because that’s what your doing, delaying your progress! And with the compounds, you see a lot of big dudes making a lot of noise throwing around huge weights. Don’t be put off, strength is subjective, some people might warm up on what you can do when your firing at 110%, it simply doesn’t matter if your getting your work done and getting the results you deserve!
I’m not saying you should stop mixing things up and challenging your body, but what I’m saying is go back to basics! Stop over complicating things, get your compound movements and cardio done, then throw in some band work that’ll really focus on your glutes, I promise you if you stick to the back to basics approach for a month or two, the results will surprise you, just give it a go will you.
Those girls on insta with an otherworldly physique and the guys with shoulders and abs like a statue are doing the basics I promise. No matter what they’re preaching (nine times out of ten they are paid to say half the stuff they claim is ‘groundbreaking’ or they have copied it from someone else who is selling something), I bet you a whole lot they’re getting their basics/essentials in. And the ones that aren’t, may be enhanced in one way or another, which is by no means a bad thing they are running a business remember! I just want to help the normal folks out there looking to build some confidence or to get fit!
Variety is the spice of life, make sure your not boring yourself in the gym, but please think long term. With compound movements and more functional fitness, you are helping yourself in the long term, you’ll thank me when you can still smash a game of tennis in your sixties! A strong, mobile, flexible body is a body ready for the real world and ready for father time. Don’t try and reinvent the wheel every week, they already did that. People have been pushing weights, squatting them and picking them up for a very long time now, there is a reason why they do this.
Thanks for reading this little rant of mine, if you have learnt anything or have some questions please do not hesitate to get in touch. I literally love it when people get in touch because I have no friends and I personally love helping people in any way possible, the same goes for the rest of the B On 1 team! Now, give this a share, fill up that sexy orange glass bottle you got from our store and go out there and smash your goals! We love you and we are proud of each and every member of the B On 1 family!

This guide is not just for vegans however, with more and more breweries out there shifting towards vegan methods its a great time to jump on the bandwagon early. As well as being cruelty free, these beers are delicious, take a peak at the beers bellow and next time you see one on tap or in the fridge, take the plunge and see what all the hype is about! Just make sure you patch up or the next morning will be a complete write off...
For those who have not heard of Shindigger yet, you will very soon. A few years ago two students living in Manchester invested their pennies into a home brewery kit and within four years their creations have been featured in The Guardian, Vice and many other fine publications. With a mango and pineapple blend this is one tasty beverage that Shindigger describe as 'if Rubicon made a beer'... Its hard to come up with a description better than this, its tasty, fruity and dangerously moreish. An all round winner plus your supporting local business so you get extra points for being a great person.
Another Manchester brewery making waves on the beer scene so I am slightly biased (not my fault I live in the second greatest city in the world, Sheffield takes the top spot obvs), but ESB is no joke. Runaways take on a old school Bitter. It'll put hairs on your chest for sure. A complex little number with a distinctive black treacle and toffee flavour with some dried fruit tones thrown in there for good measure. A sure fire hit for those upcoming dark winter nights, full of flavour and perfect for when you get into the pub and take the layers off if your not sold on the first sip then I don't really know what to say.
Speaking of seasonal taste sensations, those fine fellows over at Runaway Brewery have another treat up their sleeves. I have only just had a taste of the Gingerbread Stout but I'm in love already. In fact as I write this I may or may not be sipping on one listening to the Manchester rain crash down. A rich twist on your average stout, with a whole bunch of cinnamon and ginger thrown in there, this ain't your granddads typical stout. A great example of the traditional British malt and its fantastic timeless flavour. Long story short, Runaway Brewery have got your back for Christmas pub sessions.
Cloudwater's collaboration with Jester King, this hoppy delight is low in strength but high in flavour. Don't let the low strength put you off, frankly its a welcome change in my eyes! Cloudwater have been on fire as of late, picking up the MEN Brewery of the year award in 2017, an impressive feat considering some of the brilliant beer coming out of this neck of the woods as of late. If you have yet to try Catch My Eye, then you really should, it's a fine pale ale and as a matter of fact check out the rest of Cloudwater's range! They're far more than just some of the coolest can designs out there, but yeah they do look really cool as well as a bonus.
A light and delicious IPA, a perfect beverage for those autumnal evenings in the pub. There is a real fruity taste when you first have a swig with a strong and developed aftertaste that'll pack a delightful punch. One bartender pointed out the almost Parma Violet aroma you get when you crack open a can, my personal favourite on the list, get behind this Bristol based brewery and drink moor beer! (Stolen from their bold yet classic design on the can, couldn't help it.)
The point of this little piece was to turn people onto some of the great vegan beers out there but as my ramblings have unfolded this is more of a quick insight to some great beers out on the scene. More beer based ramblings coming soon, and some other things for you spirit fans so stay tuned. Patch up, share this article, join us on whichever social media that takes your fancy, or just all of them. But most importantly go out there and check out some of these great beers!

The most wonderful time of the year, halloween is almost upon us. For those who have agreed to host this years halloween bash and have yet to get planning, we've got your back!
]]>We all know, halloween is one of the heaviest nights of the year so you might need some assistance for the next day, once again, we've got your back. Make sure you head over to our store and use the code 'SPOOKY15' for 15% off your B On 1 Patches and it runs all the way until the 31st of this month!
In my opinion, a theme is essential, but this isn't my party (Last days of disco, if your feeling like copying me). The positives of having a theme is that your decor and the way you dress up your place can match the outfits easily and create a really fun general ambience. It also breeds a friendly bit of competition, the theme unites how people will dress which creates an instant 'who has the best costume' battle. This competition is at most parties but the even playing-field gives you the chance to genuinely have the best costume!
There are some downsides as it can take away from the initial wow factor of each individual arrival. Some say this limits the creativity of everyones costume but thats just opinion. This is the first thing you need to consider, make your mind up and let everyone know asap.
What makes a halloween easily the funniest party to throw is being in charge of the decor. You can dress up your place stupidly easy, take the family photos down for a night and throw in those coloured light bulbs from B&Q. Red, green and purple lights work brilliantly to create an immediate halloween vibe for the party. Plus this also restricts the lighting so those cheap decorations that are in every cheap shop look a million times better. There is no need to break the bank, use the classic 'less is more' when it comes to halloween. Which also helps out when it comes to the clean operation the next day...
I am usually against food at parties, but halloween is the one time where I break my rule. Keep the pumpkin theme going, its not just for decoration and lattes, throw out some pumpkin pie or even go for a pumpkin cheesecake! (Check out our Halloween Pinterest board for more inspiration). Also, for all you booze hounds out there, give the Pumpkin Face Reserve Rum a try. Its rich, sweet and has a spice to it that'll really get the party started.
Just kidding. And if anyone says anything like this just tell them they're not invited. Same goes for people who turn up without a costume!
Stay safe and enjoy your evening folks, remember to use 'SPOOKY15' for 15% off!

In this new series of posts we’re going to practice what we preach for once, giving you a little insight into the team and what fitness means to us individually. What kind of exercise we do, why we do it and generally just talk about ourselves.
My fitness journey began long ago when I was a dashing young lad. It took awhile for me to get off the sofa and the security of my room to get fit, I was severely lacking in confidence and never was naturally gifted at anything athletic. But one thing I was always a big fan of was hard work, spending time to better myself normally consisted of hitting the books and internet to find more and more. When I finally got myself a membership to a gym it all changed very quickly. (Don’t worry, still hitting the books, just got bigger words in now)
I started off focused on fitness and weight training. Never really knowing what I’m doing but loved every minute. Once I had my headphones in and got lost in the music I never felt self-conscious, to be honest I never even noticed the other people in the gym. I was blissfully unaware of everyone. After a short space of time I decided to start doing my research, giving myself focus because its pretty simple, the more focused approach, the better the results. Once those beginner ‘gains’ started rolling in, then the confidence came but without the ego.
It was always a selfish endeavor, I never really thought about how other people thought I looked. The only opinion I valued was my own and if I was comfortable in my own skin.
As the weeks turned into months, months into years, I never lost focus. I was in love with the process. It’s the simplest game in the world, upon finding that hard work actually pays off, I couldn’t stop. It’s simple but served as a great life lesson to me, giving me a relentless work ethic. I am thankful that I started when I did as a young teenager, eating good and constantly working on my fitness never took away from my social life. It became a habit, beyond just routine.
Having gotten lost in it for a number of years, the ‘grind’ became nothing, its just second nature. I am one of those annoying guys who will put in 110% into everything I do, especially work.
No matter what, every single day I have to get a sweat on. Even to this day. Its not that I HAVE to do it, I just do it (please don’t sue). Its part of my life and I feel like 40 years from now I'll be thanking myself. I’m not a golf fan really, so as a retired old man I’d love to still be able to play tennis at a decent standard. It’s a long term project, I’m only just getting started.
Thanks for reading as usual, next time we’ll get a little insight into our glorious leader Matthew Smart. If you love any of our content please give it a share and as always be sure to check out our store. See you next time.

This website is such a clever little creation. And it’s pretty simple, you go on there and you do nothing but listen to some calming waves and sit (or stand) still for two minutes. A move of the mouse, an attempt to scroll or open an app will restart the timer. Its purpose is simple, to make you stop what your doing and just centre yourself and refocus. It has helped me many times when writing or editing a video when the stress is mounting and is not going away.
You may think it sounds too simple to work or just stupid, but just give it a try and let us know how it felt. So next time you get to work and your email inbox is full of problems just click the link above before you get started. Its only two minutes, trust me, all those ‘urgent’ emails can wait two minutes.
Headspace is guided mediation app for your phone, with millions of users that range from Wall Street brokers to Olympic athletes. If you feel like you’re not the kind of person who will like meditation then this is definitely the app for you. It gently guides you through breathing lessons and basic meditation principles without having to put on hemp trousers and become a star child. It is basic and easy to follow but this is its strength, its no nonsense and you track your progressions and minutes mediating easily.
I have used Headspace every day for the past year and it quickly became one of my favourite parts of the day, something I look forward to after particularly stressful days. For those of you who have not tried this already I really cannot recommend it enough. The same goes for the people who maybe have tried it before and maybe have fallen off. Meditation is not like a physical exercise where progress can be seen in the mirror or on the scale, you might not even notice the clarity and stress management that comes from it, but please give it a go, your heart and mind will thank you later.
What’s Up is an app design to assist people who are suffering from any kind of mood disorder. It utilises CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy) techniques aswell as multiple features including; education about common thinking errors and various healthier alternatives; breathing techniques for relaxation; a guided grounding exercise and a log for tracking “good” and “bad” habits. As you could be putting information on there that is very private you can protect the app with a password and has no options for sharing data what so ever. The app is a very useful resource for anyone seeking information in regards to mental health issues.
If you try any of these apps and websites please get in touch and give your thoughts! We thank you as always for reading and if you enjoy our content we would really appreciate you giving it a share!
]]>Kicking off with a re release here, its been twenty years since this album came out and it sounds timeless and as relevant as the day it was released. A true great of the Brit-Pop era. The Verve knocked it out of the park with the certified classic Bittersweet Symphony as the main single from this album, but you owe it to yourself to check out the rest of the project. The Drugs Don’t Work and Velvet Morning are two tracks I must admit I forgot about but now are on heavy rotation. Whack on the headphones and blast the album loud.
Bittersweet Symphony is a song to be played whilst walking down the busiest part of whichever city you live in, surround yourself in humanity and let yourself soak it all in. Ditch ‘As You Were’ and take a step back in time to when the English were the kings of rock and roll.
Trip hop legend returns to form. One of the founders of massive attack is still kicking about and after his early very dark work, he is back with a twist. He is now exploring happiness and contempt… Exploring his acceptance of death and the future. Martina Topley-Bird returns to deliver some of her angelic vocals. If you haven’t dived into Trickys world before then look no further than Ununiform as a jumping on point, then go back to Maxinquaye and see why us music dorks call bands like the XX a post tricky act… A pioneer and a true legend. Best of all, he’s still got it.
Mount Kimbie is a hard group to describe. An electronic group formed in the ashes of the dubstep movement, no ‘brutal’ drops but catchy hooks a plenty with a DIY feel. The DIY feel gives it its heart with a sound and style which makes you wonder if these guys are just working on a Macbook in their mothers basement. With a couple collaborations with James Blake this album is spacious and ambient but still has heart and soul. Check it late at night whilst running or studying or whatever else you guys get up too… Ditch the money grabbing LCD Soundsytem reunion and support a young exciting British electronic act.
If you haven’t heard of Kojay Radical, you will soon enough. This kid is the future. Young, confident, talented and an artistic vision that is severely lacking in the British hip-hop. Socially conscious without being preachy whilst still being the kind of hip hop that sounds great coming out of your car sound system. In the link bellow is his epic Gallons, give that a listen then seek out his other works and grab yourself a ticket to his live show. After seeing the energy and passion live I am fully on board the hype train.
Another month another bit of essential viewing coming from Netflix. Big Mouth follows a group of young friends all on the verge of becoming an adult. The series tackles issues of sex, relationships and puberty with heart but also belly aching laughs. Almost like an animated Superbad but with a little more and some incredible messages. The kids hormones manifest themselves into some of the most hilarious animated characters I have ever seen, with laugh out moments coming every few minutes. This show is an absolute treat that deals with real issues that face youngsters without being heavy handed and at the expense of humor. One of the few shows that also explore a young girls journey instead of just the boys and their dirty thoughts. Be warned there is only ten episodes but each are essential viewing. The episode ‘Head Pusher’ delivers a powerful message whilst still being arguably the funniest episode.

Wanting to look better in your bikini? Why are you a slave to the weighing scale? Doesn’t really make sense does it.
Loosing weight? Why are you looking in the mirror every single day and taking progress pictures.
I could go on and on. People tend to overcomplicate things. Clarity and the correct focus not only makes things simple but it also wont damage your motivation. If you’ve lost 3 pounds in however many weeks, I hate to break it to you, looking in the mirror may make you think otherwise. But the scales will let you know! The reason for this is that if you’re staring and inspecting in the mirror every single day you’re far less likely to notice the progress.
Boil your target down to facts. A lot of people may say ‘oh I’d like to weigh less so I fit in this dress or shirt better’, this is a cosmetic goal at the end of the day. Weight loss may be involved in achieving this, but at the same time it might not. Using this case as an example, you should be using the mirror not the scale, slip into what your looking to look better in and have a look in the mirror and take a picture. Then at intervals of weeks do the exact same thing (please don’t do it every day, that’s a one way ticket to loosing your motivation).
To start with this approach may be uncomfortable, but use that feeling as motivation aswell! Don’t dwell on it, next time your thinking about skipping out on the gym or that run just remember that feeling. Use the negative and turn it into something far more powerful, what ever it is your trying to do I promise you that you can do it!
Long story short. If you don’t already, establish your goal, then you need to figure out the best and correct way of tracking it. Then stick to it. Simple right? If your loosing weight, use the scales as gospel. Want to look better or leaner? Use the same mirror and lighting and take photographs! You don’t have to share them with the world but if you want to, make sure you do it with pride!
We here at B On 1 want to see you smash your goals and live the life you want to live, keep at it and if any of these posts help you then let us know, spread the word and keep working hard so you can enjoy those nights out! (Just remember to patch up guys, it wont help your goals but it’ll help the head in the morning!) Peace and love as always.
]]>So kettlebells, aside from being doorstoppers used throughout the land in gyms, they are arguably the ultimate piece of fitness equipment. Shaped like a little cannonball with a handle, they pack quite the punch when used correctly. Building muscle, strength, grip, aiding weight loss, flexibility and one hell of a cardiovascular workout. Yet these little bad boys are often under appreciated in a gym full of fancy equipment, but there’s a reason they’ve been used since the 18th century. Lets see if cross trainers last as long as the kettlebell…
Lets talk a little bit about the benefits; starting with the beat down it can give your body if trying to burn fat. The highly metabolic cost of throwing a weight around is staggering compared to walking uphill on a treadmill for 30 minutes, you can get way more done with a kettlebell in 5 minutes. Aswell as this the strength you will develop using them will burn all the more calories as your entire body is engaged in every single exercise you do. Anyone who fears a bulky or overly masculine look that is associated with the words strength training, just don’t. An example I always use is the difference between a sprinter and a marathon runner. Sprinters will incorporate a lot of dynamic strength training (kettlebells, cough cough…) and this is why they have a firm and athletic body compared to a slender marathon runner. It all depends on your goals obviously. But just remember touching a weight and using it isn’t going to turn you into Arnie so stop worrying and try something new.
For those of us looking to save some money, the kettlebell is the ultimate solution. Gym memberships and personal trainers or in-home equipment are very expensive lets face it. But with a single kettlebell, you can have everything you need to create a healthy, fit and functional body for the rest of your life. They are nearly indestructible and relatively inexpensive. So its win-win really for you guys who are home gymers!
Another great aspect to kettlebell training is the speed of the workout you can do but also the coordination and functional fitness that comes with this. Every lift with the kettlebell engages the entire body. The kettlebell movement is never a single joint movement, every swing, lift, or press engages many joints and muscle groups forcing the body to always work as a unified whole. Since the brain knows movements and not “muscles” you become more coordinated. Exercises train your body to work as a unit. This is also why athletes look different than bodybuilders who isolate each muscle in their workouts.
But before you get started, here are 5 do’s and don’ts to bare in mind!
Don’t go to the limit! – Find a weight that works for you and master it before progressing. Don’t use your ego, use your brain.
Do use them to build a strong backside! – Strong and flexible glutes not only have cosmetic benefits, they also help you jump higher, runner faster and have better posture!
Do use them to save time and confusion! – Not only can you get through a workout in a shorter time, having a kettlebell based workout can save you from mastering a huge amount of machines and other movements.
Don't try and copy complex movements on your first time! – We all know to walk before we run, master the basics first then adapt and challenge yourself in time.
Don't let go! – You know what I was saying earlier about it being a cannonball shape, you let go at the top of a swing and your walls will look like they took a cannonball blast.
Enjoy and welcome to the magical world of functional fitness, and you can't spell functional without fun…
Sorry, ill just finish up now.
See you next time guys and thank you as always for your time. Give this post a share if you found it informative and let us know how you get on if your using them for the first time!
]]>This one is for all the adventurous couples out there. Take a walk on the wild side and put down Time Out, dive into the weird and wonderful world of immersive theatre.
In immersive theatre, you the audience are not simply passive onlookers to a performance. You play a role yourself. Don’t worry you don’t have to learn any lines or start attending any night school courses in performance. You may be in the center of the action; witnessing and experiencing events unfold literally right in front of you, instead of in a tiny seat struggling with armrest politics with your neighbour.
In some cases you are able to literally explore the world the theatre company is transporting you to. The lines between performer and audience member are blurred as you could be herded into a different room quickly, members of the audience you may have been sat or stood next to could in fact be performers and you may never find out whether they were part of the public or not.
It’s an experience that is hard to describe or prepare someone for. As each production is varied and have their own style. But immersive theatre is for those of us out there looking for spontaneous action and adventure, be willing to step out of your comfort zone with an open mind and you will be rewarded with an evening like you have never experienced before. The more you let go and get involved the more you get out of the show, so unfold those arms and stop sighing and get involved.
This year I have had the pleasure of attending the incredible Party Skills For The End Of The World. A show which took place as part of the Manchester International Festival, taking place in a disused university building. The action began as we entered, we were given a lesson on how to make a perfect Martini, as we mingled with our fellow ‘guests’ the night took a turn for the worse as we discovered it would be our last night on earth.
We were left to explore the building and prepare ourselves for the oncoming apocalypse. In each room there were lessons taking place, some were party skills and others were survival lessons. We learnt how to make a trap for animals with a pair of iPhone headphones, how to dance, balloon animals and how to throw a punch. Without spoiling the show, the evening took a terrifying turn as the apocalypse began and we ran for our lives through the tunnels of the basement to a party at the end of the world.
I have never experienced a night like this. Truly incredible, I found myself crying with laughter one moment and contemplating modern life the next.
The idea of this post is for you and your significant other to stray away form your usual routines, try new things that you may think you hate. But how can you know until you try it! Patch up and swig down a few glasses of wine and go in with an open mind. Get involved and see what you take away from the experience. Because that’s what this style of theatre is all about, the experience, not a dry two hours of actors talking at you. They want everyone to come out having had a different experience and opinions.
Give it a try and let us know what you think! I will attach some links below so you can discover something in your area to try out.
Thank you as always for having a read and feel free to give this post a share if you like it. Or don’t. It’s a free country. As always we appreciate all of your support over here at B On 1 and we are working hard to bring you different content every single week!

Fitting exercise and a healthy lifestyle in around a busy work schedule is difficult. It’s a problem we all encounter as we find ourselves working hard to keep up a level of fitness whilst still achieving in the working world. But in and amongst all this, we can never forget about our mind and the work it goes through each and every day. People say we only have one body in life so we need to look after it, which I do agree with to an extent. Yet finding ways of giving your mind a rest isn’t at the top of most peoples priorities list.
Here at B On1 we believe mental health is almost more important as your physical well being, these are our tips on how to keep your mind as healthy as your body.
Along with the increased flexibility and strength benefits, Yoga is more than just a gimmick or trend. It can help with the management of stress and breathing, aswell as respiration in general. I personally have felt many benefits from incorporating Yoga in my life including a sharpened concentration and helping me relive myself from stress patterns that have plagued my life.
This one is a simple one, were not all Margret Thatcher and I definitely don’t function at my best with four hours sleep. Everyone’s body works differently yes, but try giving yourself some more time truly resting and feel the difference over time.
Fish is a low fat, high quality protein source. And the effects of fish oil have been well researched and documented. Showing that consumption of fish in a healthy diet aids brain function aswell as helps the heart by lowering blood pressure and the risks associated.
Taking time out and spending your free time with those you love is key in my opinion. I love spending time on own yes, but making time for your loved ones is a selfless endeavour remember. You rely on these people when you have problems even when you do not directly address it, they do the exact same. Remember that before canceling on them, they may want to chat and escape their own problems, keep your social circle strong by looking after each other just by doing something as easy as going for coffee.
Whether it is people in your line of work, athletes you admire or artists. Take some time out from the Facebook feed and learn more about the people you look up to, whoever they may be. It’s not dangerous to dream, let yourself be inspired in a positive way. Be in awe of something, and then think how you want to incorporate this into your life. Dream big.
Just do it. Remember how it feels to go on your favourite walk without your earphones in. Ditch the twitter for a day, you’re not missing anything. I wont go on and on about our sometimes unhealthy obsession with technology. Just remember it can never give you the same feeling as raindrops on your face, snow under your boot, a cool sea breeze, the heat of the sun on your skin, whatever sensation you love, it beat likes and all that jazz every time. Live your life in real life, not through the way you choose to carefully portray your it on Instagram. Next time you see a sun set, don’t take a picture. Just enjoy it, that’s the first step.
Your body is made up of two-thirds water, its responsible for so much in your body and you already know why you need to be drinking more of it. So fill up your lovely glass bottle from B On 1 and get to it. You already know why you should, so get to it.
You don’t have to outwardly project it onto everyone you come into contact with if you don’t want. But try being an optimist for once, think how you can achieve something special instead of why you cant do it. Try it for yourself, make a considered effort to simply be more positive, and after awhile you’ll feel it, a negative outlook on life is unhealthy. Just remember that you are special. There is no official number on this so sorry in advance, but it has been estimated that the probability of you being born is around one in 400 trillion… If that doesn’t make you feel special, I don’t know what will.
Thanks as always team, don’t remember to give this a share if you liked it and to keep checking back for all the latest content we work hard to provide for you beautiful people. Namaste.

Lets start by grabbing some food. With such a wide variety of spots to grab some food it’s hard just choosing one place. But my current favourite has to be vegan junk food Valhalla, V-Rev. Situated in Manchester’s bustling Northern Quarter, V-Rev serves up a creative and delicious array of burgers, ribs and mac and cheese.
Now, you may think a vegan restaurant wouldn’t be your go to spot for a burger, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Every bite is full of flavour and can bring even the biggest of meat eaters to questioning themselves on how it can taste so good. The bar is stocked with craft beer delights to quench your thirst and with a stylish décor, V-Rev makes for a great start to any evening.
Still young in the game, but Schloss is already making a big name for itself and is firmly a Friday and Saturday night staple for many living in Manchester. A bohemian pleasure paradise like no other, with live music and DJ’s along with a colourful cast of dancers and characters that prowl through the bustling bar every weekend, adding a lot of heart and charm to a busy bar.
The cocktail menu is extensive and the beer is shipped from the Czech republic every single week. You must try an authentic Pilsner Urquell, served in an ice class topped with a large foamy head. The copper tanks full of this golden delight are on display as you enter and then again above the bar, a truly fresh and tasty pilsner that is dangerously moreish.
Oh and did I forget to mention their unbelievable Sunday roasts, featuring a live gospel choir and a ‘push for gravy’ button…
Opening earlier in 2017, Jimmies is a true throwback, bursting with character and great tunes. A hole in the wall style rock bar, complete with neon signs and a Jack Daniels slushy machine (Yes. A Jack Daniels slushy machine).
On paper it sounds a little dated or cheesy, rock bars are hardly the place to be in 2017, but Jimmies is leading the charge against this opinion. Get on your dancing shoes, your skinniest jeans and spend an hour on your hair so it looks like you just woke up. Rock and roll isn’t dead, it lives on the rainy streets of Manchester, you owe it to yourself to check out one of the coolest places in town and just so I fit it in for the third time, grab yourself a Jack Daniels slushy, please.
Now this venue has been around for a very long time, but its in the midst of a bit of a comeback. Bringing some truly talented artists and DJ’s in very frequently, Deaf is back. Spread across three floors, there’s room to chill out, have a chat over multiple gin and tonics and then the dance floor upstairs. Be on the lookout for nights such as Guess Who (a night where the headline act will be announced that day) and the hip shakin’ juggernauts Disco Illusions who are back to turn your Friday night into a boogie wonderland.
Part of the Mission Mars umbrella of bars and clubs, (Alberts Schloss, Albert Hall, Gorilla, Trof) it seems they are hell bent on domination of Manchester’s nightlife and I’m all for it.
Tucked away on the second floor of Caine and Grain, Science and Industry is a hidden gem. With some genuinely talented bartenders and attentive waitresses, there are few bars that strike the perfect balance of great drinks, service and style. Science and Industry just takes the cake. Cosy, intimate and a great juke box, if you’re after a spot to unwind and sample some incredible cocktails late into the night, look no further.
There you have it, five of our favourite spots in Manchester right now. If you have any suggestions on places we need to try let us know in the comments! And if you enjoy B On 1’s fresh new content don’t hesitate to give it a share. ]]>
Summer is pretty much in the books, your beach holidays are finished, you might have the kids going back to school or a busy season coming up at work. September can be a long month.
With the sand and sun in the rear view mirror, it’s so easy and almost understandable to forget your fitness goals and your personal goals. Lets face it, running and cycling in the rain is the worst. Getting off the sofa when rain and wind is battering the windows is definitely a challenge for all of us. You’re not alone in this.
For me September has always been a disruptive month in terms of my own personal development. As a student I knew at the end of the month, my body was going to take a battering and in the post university life I had little motivation as my next summer holidays were a long way away. I felt like I could skip out on workouts, running was a distant memory and why even eat healthy when I don’t have to?
This year is different (this is the part were you start taking notes). I’ve used September as a point in the year to sit back, reassess and set new goals. Focusing more on motivating myself and preparing for the future. Instead of kick starting, I'm just going to keep trucking.
Stepping up the intensity of my workouts has been the first box to tick. Just this morning I was considering taking an impromptu rest day, just because of the glorious Manchester weather. I fought the temptation and jogged through the rain for some kettlebells and yoga.
Putting in the hard yards this time of the year and keeping on track will only help you long term. Letting yourself go for a period of time can sometimes be beneficial, but doing it each year and swapping the pizza for the bike every January isn’t healthy or smart. Working yourself into a frenzy in the gym in January and the early portion of the year to get poolside or beech ready can be avoided. Staying the course and putting in consistent work will give you better results and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is hugely beneficial long term.
It seems silly to state the obvious, but its true. We’re all guilty of forgetting this.
What I’m slowly trying to say is, yes we all deserve time off. But doing it for huge portions of the year and getting back on the horse in January isn’t the best way of going about it. Maintain the lifestyle and focus on your positive habits. Get a new waterproof for your road running or cycling. Pick out gym shoes you don’t mind getting wet.
And in terms of goal setting. Whether it is a new PB on a long run or ride, being beach ready or having a great season in the sport you focus on. Begin to set short term achievable goals, instead of just thinking bigger picture. Long term goals are hard to achieve we all know this, so your short term ones should act as the foundation.
Simple, achievable goals to maintain and slowly develop yourself are key to the foundation to your goals. Consider the long term, but focus on the short term. How can I get better each day? That should always be the focus. Remember, this life we live is a marathon and not a sprint. Cliché I know, but I honestly don’t care. Because it’s true. Be sure to enjoy it, enjoy those well deserved cocktails, just make sure you deserve it. One thing I’ve found over many years of competing in a variety of sports, nothing tastes better than that beer at the finish line.
Why? Because I deserve it. And so do you. Your amazing and can do amazing things.
If you enjoy reading these articles / ramblings please do not hesitate to give it a share or simply tell a friend, we appreciate your support so much here at B On 1 towers.
Just please make sure you patch up when you get that well deserved beer, because the only thing better than a well deserved beer is ten well deserved beers.

This is a monthly round up of music and culture. Sorting out your dinner party small talk, all whilst having your back for when the dreaded aux cable is passed!
New and exciting music, films, books and just generally what we’re loving here at B On 1 HQ.

Funky party sensations ‘!!!’ are back with a new collection of beats to get your hips moving. An album full of party grooves and synths that will keep you going early into the morning. All this combined with the deep bass that cuts through speakers, !!! are on a mission to get you movin’.
'!!!' come from the fine folks over at Warp records (one of Sheffield’s finest exports), and for the last two decades they have been providing some of the most fun and infectious party tunes and their latest output is no different.
A great soundtrack to pre-drinks to get everyone up of the sofa or the dreaded spin bike, let the grove flow through and push you through.
This one is for all you guitar heroes out there. Orc grabs you quickly and takes you on a mind-bending ride through the galaxy. A glam-rock inspired vocal delivery takes you deeper into the madness, don’t fight it, let it take you on a full-blooded rollercoaster ride to rock and roll’s outer edges!
Play it loud in the gym or on those Sunday afternoon air guitar sessions. Be warned, this one needs to be played at 11.
A true instrumental gem that might have flown under your radar, but we forgive you. Shaboo is one of the finest hip hop albums of 2017 so far. Smooth, silky, chilled out and so cool that if your head isn’t nodding along after about ten minutes there may be something wrong…
This album is such a great soundtrack for those last ditch attempts at BBQ’s but at its heart this is a road album. Driving through the night with Don Leisure providing the soundtrack is a treat. Inspired by classic hip hop beats, Shaboo takes you on a wonderful journey of soul samples with an eastern twist.
Ya dig?
Say hello to Netflix’s latest binge worthy show. Coming from the fine folks who made Orange is the New Black, you already know what your in for, prepare to fall in love. Glow is the story of a rag tag bunch of ladies and their journey into the (not so) glitzy world of professional wrestling in the 1980’s.
The charming and talented Allison Brie (Mad Men and Community) takes the lead as a down on her luck actress looking for a break. Brie takes this familiar sounding character and injects a human element that we can all connect with, and by a few episodes in you’ll be rooting for her despite her bellow par decision making skills. Like Orange is the New Black, the supporting characters and hilarious script will keep you coming back for more. Balancing the comedy and drama perfectly in a very believable 1980’s LA backdrop, Glow is textbook good TV.
Yes Netflix. I am STILL watching.

It doesn’t matter what kind it is, why you exercise, your goals or your sport. It’s the only exercise you could call essential.
]]>It doesn’t matter what kind it is, why you exercise, your goals or your sport. It’s the only exercise you could call essential.
This isn’t a guide on how to do it, there’s plenty online and there’s plenty of good PT’s out there to help with that. The purpose of this post is to make sure your doing them. From the research I’ve done and conversations I’ve had with people in the fitness industry there’s plenty of you out there that are, so well done. But according to these PT’s and fitness club owners there is a lack of them being done in gyms.
(Especially the guys.)
The squat is not just an exercise; it’s a movement pattern that your body goes through literally every single day. Its not just a leg exercise, it’s a full body movement that should be found in every weight loss, muscle building or whatever kind of plan you could think of. Whether you use any kind of resistance or weight, or just simply air squats I will say it one more time, its essential!
Lets have a think of the benefits, it’s a great way to use train your muscles and build or tone them. They also work your stabilisation muscles (balance and movement) and ligaments, which will aid in injury prevention aswell as efficiency for all you athletes out there. And importantly (most importantly in my mind) it will help with flexibility and strength in your hips, ankles, back and core, which will only help out in later life.
This one goes out to all the runners and cyclists out there, adding squats into your routine is also very beneficial. As building functional strength throughout your legs and whole body will aid with fighting muscle imbalances, which helps with injury prevention, aswell as helping build great range of motion for your ankles which will only aid your running.
Now, I am not telling you to go into the gym, strap on a belt, throw too many plates on a bar and bend your body in half and hope you survive.
What I am saying is to think about them, find a way to incorporate them into your fitness regime if you already haven’t. Even if its just 3 sets of 25 air squats in the morning. Your body will thank you. And if its already in your plan, great work! But one thing I have noticed for all the barbell squatters out there, please remember one thing. Strength is subjective (more on this later). Don’t try and compete with those gym monsters or Insta gurus. If you’re feeling the resistance, the challenge and your muscles working, you’re doing it right!
Squats have been talked about to death online. Which in my mind is a good thing, but an exercise as natural and helpful as the squat will never go out of fashion. Whether you want to be able to rock those shorts you love, finally get that bikini from that place you love or smash that route you love with time to spare. Let squats be your foundation, do them properly and safely and I promise you that you will not regret it.
(Well. Aside from the day after leg day, but doesn’t that pain hurt so good?)
]]>Ah Amsterdam. The classic weekend away that many of us have taken, a short flight takes your right into the heart of Europe’s famous playground of indulgence, yet you may have missed out on what I believe is one of the most rich cultural experiences you can have in Europe.
While the Rijksmuseum certainly takes a lot of the spotlight when it comes to Amsterdam’s famous museum scene. The Stedelijk is less than a minute from the famous doors of the Rijksmuseum. It is home to arguably the finest collection of modern art, design and contemporary art in the world. If galleries aren’t normally your thing, fear not, this is far from a stuffy / snobby art space.
Picasso, Dalí, Miró, Cezanne, Van Gogh, they’re all here. Get lost in a vibrant world of exciting and engaging art. This place is far from boring I can promise you that, the building itself is wonderful and getting lost for two or three hours inside is one of the best experiences available in this fine city.
Wait, a museum about microbes and micro-organisms… When there is a zoo up the road?
Yes. Micro-organisms. While this sounds moderately disgusting at first or a bit boring, this couldn’t be further from the truth. This museum is truly unique, the first of its kind in the entire world. It is an exciting and informative experience all laid out in a truly engaging way. Rich and colourful displays of bacteria as well as its fair share of interactive fun.
An experience you wont forget in a while, making a light bit of learning so captivating and colourful. It will make you think as well, mainly about upping your hand washing game.
Yes Amsterdam has a beach. The one thing always missing from city breaks, and Amsterdam has one. About 15 minutes on the tram from the centre of the city, the clean and stone free beech is a great spot to relax and get you away from the city. It overlooks a beautiful lake but truly feels like you’re at the sea-side, the perfect spot to relax and give your feet a little rest.
And yes. There is a bar. And yes at night there are some delightful parties. So pack you B On 1 Patches for this one.
De Baarsjes is one the most the multicultural and exciting neighbourhoods in Amsterdam. A go to destination for anyone with a love of Turkish, Moroccan and many other culinary delights. Over the last few years the neighbourhood has attracted a young and creative crowd opening small businesses, bars and delicious places to eat. A great place to unwind and have a few drinks and mix with the locals, instead of the tourist heavy hot spots like the red light district.
A young and cool neighbourhood that will make you jealous that it isn’t in your city. Plus at night it is home to some of the finest clubs in the city. Get on down and sample some amazing beers and even better food.
And what kind of guide to Amsterdam doesn’t have a coffee shop thrown in. Abraxas is a friendly spot, with a hippy style wooden décor with great staff and erm… Coffee?
